Due to the European Ecodesign Directive 2009/125/EC, the installation sector is switching to high-efficiency circulation pumps. Since January 2013, freestanding pumps have already had to comply with this directive. A further 2 phases are planned which will mean requirements will also apply to built-in circulation pumps, for example in boilers and cooling generators.
SpiroTRAP Safeguarding Pump Efficiency
To safeguard the quality and efficiency of these new pumps with permanent magnetic rotors designed to be cooled by the circulating medium, treatment of the installation water is crucial. The use of high-efficiency pumps is economically and ecologically of benefit because of the huge potential energy savings. The use of pumps is definitely recommended as they can provide a reduction in power of up to 75%. However, Installers must ensure that each heating and cooling installation is fitted with a SpitoTRAP, a modern dirt separator which acts as a bodyguard to keeps the magnetite dirt away from the pump.
Contamination in heating or cooling installations largely consists of magnetite. The particles are so small that we cannot see them with the naked eye. The human eye sees things from about 10 µm; a human hair is about 40 µm wide. In contrast, the smallest magnetite particles are only about 5-10 µm in size, or five thousandth of a millimetre.
Magnetic Dirt separators offerd by HASL
Spirotech supplies the following dirt separators which are fitted with magnet technology. The combination of the well-known Spirotube element and the magnet technology ensures that the magnetic and non-magnetic particles are continuously and reliably filtered out of the water.
