Versatherm -  What it does?
If you’ve got big and varying domestic hot water demands then Versatherm is the ideal solution. Versatherm is ideal for schools, hotels, sports centres – in fact anywhere demand varies widely throughout the day. Versatherm draws heat from your existing boiler system, rapidly heating the water in the Versatherm vessel to usable temperature. The stored water is heated from the top down, ensuring hot water is available quickly, even after heavy usage.

Versatherm -  What is it?
Versatherm consists of an insulated vessel, compact brazed heat exchanger, loading pump, pipe-work, isolation, regulation and check valves. A temperature control panel, temperature sensors, high limit thermostat and 2-port primary control valve are included. As an option, Versatherm can also be supplied with all necessary ancillary items for use on unvented systems.

Versatherm -  How does it work?
The compact heat exchanger takes heat from an existing boiler, heats the domestic hot water and sends this at usable temperature to the top of the vessel. Hot water is available almost immediately – even from a cold start or after heavy usage. High demands are met by the stored water plus hot water from the heat exchanger. This minimises storage volume for a given duty. During low demands the vessel contents are heated up again by the heat exchanger. Spreading the primary heat demand in this way also minimises boiler power requirement.

Materials of Construction
Versatherm Vessels - Double Enamel Lined Steel, Type ATA. Enamelled steel has a long and successful history in hot water systems. It is highly resistant to abrasion and chemical attack and has sufficient flexibility to accept normal thermal expansion. GMS Versatherm vessels are double enamel lined. High quality European enamelling ceramics are fused at high temperature to the meticulously prepared steel internal surface. All other wetted metallic components are of copper, copper alloys or stainless steel. All wetted components are fully suitable for use with domestic cold and hot water.

A replaceable sacrificial anode (with anode condition meter) gives added protection in service. This can be upgraded to an impressed electric anode as an extra cost option.

Thermal Insulation
Rigid urethane foam insulation is injected to a standard thickness of 50mm (80mm on vessels of 1500 litres and above). Its ozone depletion potential (ODP) is zero, it does not support combustion and it resists water penetration. The unit is enclosed on a galvanised steel outer casing which is electro-statically painted and heat cured. Finish is Electric Blue.

Power Supply Required: 220/240V AC / 1ph / 50hz

Notes on Primary LTHW connections.

The heat exchanger is very effective at extracting heat from the primary water. Primary flowrate and return temperature are consequently much lower than might be expected for the heat output. This has the added benefit of keeping valve and pipe-work sizes small and may also be an advantage if the heat source is a condensing boiler. For other boilers a bypass may be needed to ensure a minimum return temperature.

If the existing primary headers do not generate sufficient head to overcome the Versatherm pressure drop a dedicated pump may be needed. For pump protection a bypass may be needed to allow some flow even when the Versatherm’s two- port control valve is closed.

Maximum control valve close-off differential pressure: 2.8 bar.

Design and Manufacturing Standards
Versatherm vessels comply fully with the European Pressure Equipment Directive 97/23/EC and European Standard   Pr EN12897
